Candice and I were naturally the first at Langstone Harbour (with Bray Lake flag adorning the van) as we couldn’t be bothered to carry our kit so wanted to ensure that we had a parking space (lots of other people had the same idea too as we got one of the last spaces) – Simon and Gavin got the last two!
So it was Candice, Gavin, Simon, Ian, Ali, and myself (Gary) with a late appearance put in by Kathy who of course showed us all up – coupled with a visit from Andy and Mark who were sailing near by.
The wind was about top of F3 so we all rigged our big kit, although by the time we went out it was top F4 and built to a F5 – It certainly made for some interesting sailing as the sails used ranged from about 6.5m (for the ladies) up to 8.5m (for the men). So yes basically we were all stacked (I nearly couldn’t get back to the beach as it was onshore and I was struggling with the power in a big way downwind).
We all had a fantastic day, and my first session in months… Gavin actually wasn’t late (sailing outside the lagoon of course), Simon enjoyed the thrill of his new yacht sail (8.5 Tushingham Lightning), Ian seemed pleased to be out on the water again (thanks for lending me a fin – yes I forgot them!), also to add – this is dedication – Ali had over a 4 hour drive home afterwards (hope the traffic wasn’t too bad).
Well that was my first trip out this season – LOVED IT! Join the mailing list if you’d like to be kept in the loop and maybe join us some time.
Otherwise hope to see you in El Tur (book it SM – you know you want to!)
