International Certificate of Competence
What is is?
In recent years there has been a growth in European Union regulations which has extended to legislating powerboat owners and drivers. As a result the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is now a requirement in most European waters if you intend helming a boat.
The ICC is sub divided into Power Craft up to 10m (RIBs, day boats and speedboats), Power Craft up to 24m (motor cruisers) and Sail Craft up to 24m (yachts etc).
The ICC is also divided into Coastal and Inland certificates, depending on where you intend to drive or hire your boat. It is important that you know the classification of your boat to ensure you receive the correct training. At Bray Lake we can provide the necessary certification for those helming craft up to 10m and provide the ICC training for either Inland or Coastal waterways.
Customers who are aiming to use Power Craft or Sailing Craft over 10m in length are recommended to contact the RYA.
