Kayaking is
the fastest growing water sport in the UK and is very
popular in this area. The basics can be learnt very
quickly and the course concentrates on learning through
a mixture of fun and games. By the end of the week you
will be amazed at how well you can control your kayak,
in all directions, forwards, backwards and sideways!
You may choose
to join our fantastic Junior
Club and continue kayaking throughout the summer!
This course
builds upon the skills learnt on the 1 Star course including
the use of spray decks, new strokes and self rescue
techniques, and an introduction to performance kayaks.
By the end you should be skilful and confident enough
to paddle safely with your friends at the Lake.
Some of the
new skills do require a fair amount of practice to perfect
so you may need a bit more time after the course to
complete the certificate.
The advanced
coaching week for kayaking is specifically aimed at
paddlers who hold the BCU 2 Star certificate.
The emphasis of the week will be about consolidating
your knowledge and getting the most out of your paddling
whilst having fun. Activites will be dictated
by the ability of those on the course, although specific
coaching sessions will be included to get you working
towards 3 Star level. You will be introduced to
more advanced paddling techniques, rolling skills, trying
out play boats as well as a session on the River Thames.
The really
great thing about the coaching week is that you can
repeat the course as many as times as you like and each
time you will see your skills just get better and better!
It doesn't have to stop there either, keep paddling
during term time at our Junior Club and we will achieve
the next level.
