This action
packed course is designed to provide an introduction
to the exciting sport of sailing. Much of the time is
spent on the water learning about the dinghy and it’s
controls, practising skills such as launching and landing,
steering and sailing around a course.
We use a variety
of games and fun exercises which are designed to improve
your sailing technique and safety awareness. When you
have completed your Stage 1 and 2 certificates you will
be competent enough to sail a Topper at the Lake under
supervision. Come down on your own or go out sailing
with the friends you have made on the course. You may
choose to join our fantastic Junior
Club and continue dinghy sailing throughout the
summer!
This course
builds upon the skills learnt in RYA Stages 1 and 2.
It will introduce new skills and techniques that will
enable you to sail a dinghy competently and safely in
light winds, without the need of an instructor.
Some of the
new skills require a fair amount of practice to perfect
so you may need a bit more time after the course to
complete the certificate. You may chose to join our
fantastic Junior Club
and continue dinghy sailing throughout the summer!
This course
is aimed at those of you who have completed your RYA
Stage 2 certificate and want to continue learning more
advanced skills. The emphasis of the week will be about
consolidating your knowledge and getting the most out
of your sailing whilst having fun. Activities
will be dictated according to weather conditions and
the ability of those on the course, however, time will
be allocated for specific coaching sessions to help
you achieve the next stage. You will be introduced
to more challenging sailing techniques, including using
a spinnaker, anchoring, seamanship skills as well as
crweing and helming double handers.
There will
be specific coaching to introduce you to the exciting
world of competitive racing preparing you for our brand
new racing sessions at the weekend. But, the really
great thing about the coaching week is that you can
repeat the course as many times as you like and each
time you will see your skills just get better and better!
It doesn't have to stop there either, keep sailing during
term time at our Junior Club and we will help you practise
the skills necessary to achieve Level 3.
